I am officially having a great morning. BUT... I had to get myself back on track for a great morning after a brief detour, courtesy of Facebook. When I rolled out of bed today, I jumped right on my list and started knocking things out. One of the first things I typically do is clean up my notebook, email, text and calls from the previous day. This helps me keep track of any open loops and allows me to plan out a rockstar day. I stayed on this for 45 minutes or so, handled a couple of things that needed immediate attention, and quickly set a winning game plan for the rest of the day. Then Facebook happened. Using the mental excuse of needing to see how my recent video was doing, I opened the app on my phone. Then I found myself sucked into the very first post I saw! It was a worthless affair, a pic from one of my neighbors of a letter that some other neighbor had sent to him about being out of compliance with the HOA guidelines. I read the letter. Then I read the top comments. Then I clicked "See all comments." I read those too. Then I started thinking about who's in the wrong. I decided that some of the comments were stupid. I thought about what I should type in response to the stupid people. Then I thought about what people would think of that response. Suddenly I realized what was going on, 15 minutes too late! Instead of being happily on task and charging towards a great day, I was worked up about something that HAS NO IMPACT ON MY LIFE! Whew! That was a close one. This could have easily been worse. I could have lost more of my precious time! I could have damaged my attitude for the day beyond repair. Thankfully, I got out before too much damage was done. Social media is an effective tool. But it can also make you a tool. Be sure that when you log on, it is with intent. Mindless scrolling will turn you into a zombie- A loser, do nothing, get nowhere zombie! You deserve so much more! Be careful and make the right choices.
